Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What levels of approval are required for interim and acting assignments?
Answer:
Interim appointments must be reviewed by the Provost prior to extending an offer and requires confirmation by the Board of Trustees.
Deans and directors with a two level review have the authority to name acting officers depending on the need for confirmation by the Board.
For short periods, a designation may be made when there is no need to assign a budgetary increment and when there may not be a full transfer of authority. Provost approval is required for designations over 10 business days.
A formal appointment process is used when the acting position is longer than two months, and there is an administrative increment. Appointments require the notification of the Provost, not prior approval.
