EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

Provide consultation and advice for Deans, Directors, Department Heads, supervisors, and employees to trouble-shoot and diffuse academic personnel problems; serve as liaison with committees dealing with academic staff issues.  Ensure and administer family-friendly policies such as shared benefits and other paid and unpaid leave policies.

 

Ø      Resolve Issues/Problems:

Daily discussions with unit administrators, supervisors and employees to trouble-shoot and resolve issues/problems and to answer questions concerning employment policies.

Ø      Compensation Review:

Provide direction to units concerning salary/compensation issues for academic employees. Review, approve, and monitor all salary issues that are exceptions to standard campus and university policies. Conduct salary studies as necessary and assist in the review of any mid-year salary increases.

Ø      Chancellor's Academic Professional Excellence (CAPE) Award and Committee:

Coordinate the annual Chancellor's Academic Professional Excellence (CAPE) Award. Ensure all nominees meet the required criteria; prepare and distribute nomination materials; set committee meetings; plan and coordinate reception; produce correspondence and follow-up.

Ø      Shared Benefits:

Determine eligibility for shared benefits pool for academic employees, including balances, participation and distribution of shared benefits.   Contact:  Debi Stone (Robin Pruitt)

 

Ø      Council of Academic Professionals (CAP):

Serve as liaison to the CAP on behalf of the Chancellor and Provost.  The role is one of support to the group and as a consultant regarding academic personnel policies.

Ø      Faculty/Staff Assistance Program Advisory Committee:

Serve as a representative of Academic Human Resources.  Advise the Director of the Faculty/Staff Assistance Program, a short-term counseling and referral employee assistance program for faculty and staff and their families.  (See also AHR Committees).  Contact:  Debi Stone

 

Ø      Incidents Review Committee:

Serve as the representative of Academic Human Resources on this committee. Combine resources from a variety of offices including Public Safety (Campus Police), Counseling Center, Academic Human Resources, Civil Service Personnel Services Office, Legal Counsel, and one other representative of the office of the Provost.  (See also AHR Committees).
