TRAINING AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

"Providing them with the resources and environment they need if they are

to flourish"-- A Framework for the Future

Provide training to units on academic personnel policy issues and consultation on training policy.

  • New Faculty and Academic Staff Orientation:

Coordinate and direct an annual orientation for new faculty and academic professional staff.  Prepare handouts and information packet materials, coordinate meetings, confirm preparations and presenters.  Respondents (roughly 95-100%) indicate they are better acquainted with campus and issues affecting them, more comfortable starting their new positions, and were able to familiarize themselves with campus representation as a result of attending the orientation program.

  • Performance Review Program and Training:

Design, develop and implement academic professional performance review training sessions, which are conducted several times during the year.  Consult with departments throughout the year on policy and procedures, etc.  Materials have been made available through the Academic Human Resources web-site.  Recently, developed web-based training program for use by supervisors who are not able to attend training program or who need a refresher.

  • Appointment Policy Training:

Each year identify new areas of training to offer units, according to perceived needs.  Participate in training of appointment policy and processing, representing the policy side.  We are currently working on development of a supervisory training program.  Includes Campus Conduct training.
